My Story

After completing my four years of military service in July 1996 I had some health issues that had been unresolved. I knew that while I had been away my uncle had been suffering from melanoma cancer. I went to see him and was amazed at his condition. He was weaked by the chemotherapy and it had taken a toll on his body. My uncle was still in good spirits and knew his pain wouldn't last forever. Uncle Dennis went to live with the Lord in November 1996.

I could only wonder how and why his body had succumbed to cancer and I felt the need to understand this disease. But getting distracted by the world and continuing with everyday living I let those thoughts fade.

A few years later I was working at a fire station in Indiana, a friend at work introduced me to Dr. Hovind's videotape series. One topic within the tape series was Bible and health. I was amazed to find out after watching the tape and reading through the Bible how much information there is on our health. All the instructions in black, white, and red on how to take care of our spiritual, mental, and physical well-being.

One evening while at work my mother called and said my Aunt Arlene had a heart attack and was in the intensive care unit. The doctors explained she had cancer everywhere inside her body and would probably not make it much longer. My Uncle, cousin, and the rest of my family prayed around her that evening. Several minutes after they disconnected the life support from my Aunt she took her last breath and went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus.

My Uncle said that she had been sick for the past couple of weeks leading up to her departure from us. The day before she passed away she was singing hymns all day long at home. That night she woke up Uncle Hervin and told him that she didn't have any pain anymore, then went back to sleep. Upon awakening the next morning my Aunt was weak and not feeling well. They both decided it would be a good idea to go to the hospital. While my Aunt was in the Emergency Room she had a heart attack and lost consciousness, which she would not regain. Her autopsy later showed she had a softball size tumor inside her that exploded and spread throughout her circulatory system, that caused her heart attack. The tumor was probably causing the pain she was experiencing, until it ruptured and the pressure was relieved.

Once again I was asking myself why is cancer taking one life after another in our world today. The death of my Uncle and now my Aunt was my motivation to dig deeper into the facts of cancer and health in general.

Several months later I was visiting my parents. My mother asked me if I would like to go to a health seminar. I asked how much it cost and she said it was free. I thought that was just the right price for me! A doctor from the Champaign-Urbana area invited a Naturopathic physician to speak about health. Everything that I had been reading about for the past couple of years was being confirmed in his presentation. Before the seminar was over he had a question and answer time. I took this opportunity to ask him if there was any way to rid myself of the skin problems that I had been experiencing since I left the military in 1996. When my body temperature would rise, spots would appear all over my body especially in the areas of the main lymph nodes. He suggested doing a blood appraisal, this would give me suggestions as to what foods and supplements I should take that may help my body heal itself. A few months later I did as he suggested. Within four months I felt like I was given a whole new body. The skin problems went away and several other problems that I didn't even realize were an issue until they were gone. Some ailments I had so long I just chalked it up to being normal, even though they weren't. I didn't have cold hands and feet anymore, didn't get dizzy when I stood up quickly, my lower back ache was gone, I was more focused, I wasn't moody in the winter, and I wasn't tired all the time. Previously medical doctors had prescribed me creams and pills for a skin-based yeast infection for several years without success. It was never diagnosed as anything else, but who cares now, it's gone, and has never returned. Praise the Lord for all the healing.

Over the years I have learned much about the body through self-study. My resources were reading books by experts, medical journals, observing and helping people in the back of the ambulance. I currently serve full time as a firefighter and emergency medical technician- paramedic for a city in Illinois, but I still have a desire to learn more about the function of the body and personal health. In the beginning of 2005, after trying for two years to take a class on therapeutic massage, I was finally blessed with the opportunity. Nine months and six hundred hours later I received my diploma. Currently I am Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and Licensed in the State of Illinois. I hope to use my spiritual gifts to help all who are in need, as a firefighter, E.M.T; massage therapist, and most of all a servant of God.

For far too long we all have been suffering due to deception, ignorance, and greed. The truth can't be suppressed forever; it will always unveil itself in time.

"Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, if ye continue in my Word then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

I hope that this inspires and touches the life of all who read it, no matter what struggle you are going through. No one needs to experience the suffering I see everyday. There are other ways to heal the body that have worked since this world was created. Look to God's Word, study it, and you will see the events of the past are the same problems we face today. The answers on how to fix are already written. God performs miracles around you everyday; the answers you seek will be shown to you in time. During all the events above I prayed for knowledge and answers. It took longer than I wanted to recieve it, but all happened at just the right time. God's time.

God Bless your life and health,
Douglas Roosevelt
